In 1999, Bob Bryant scaled Mt. Kilimanjaro in an effort to raise funds to create an adolescent treatment program in Santa Barbara. The event was named "Summit for Danny" after his son who died four years earlier of a drug overdose. The following year, Bob went one step further to lead a team of community leaders on a first ascent of an unnamed mountain in the Canadian Arctic. The funds raised from these two climbs enabled the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse to open the Daniel Bryant Youth & Family Treatment Center on March 22nd, 2001.
In 2001, 2002, & 2003, the entire Santa
Barbara Community got involved and hiked the
Santa Barbara Mountains to keep the center going. This
year, we are bringing the climb home again to the beautiful
summits of Santa Barbara's majestic mountains. Please
help us make sure no child in our community goes without
treatment for a substance abuse problem by registering
for one of the climbs or making a pledge today.
