Cycle for Danny - June 2000




Welcome to Cycle For Danny...
In June 2000, two Santa Barbara community members bicycled 3,800 miles across America. Stan Roden, former Santa Barbara District Attorney, and Paul Trent, business leader, bicycled for 53 days from San Francisco to Maine to help our community's youth who are at risk for drug addiction. All proceeds went to the Daniel Bryant Youth & Family Treatment Center to help fund scholarships for youth attending the Center (on average 5-8 new youths begin treatment each week). The Daniel Bryant Youth & Family Treatment Center was founded by the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) and Bob Bryant, the owner of Bryant and Sons Jewelers. Bob lost his son Danny to a drug overdose in 1995. This was the beginning of his commitment to stop substance abuse in Santa Barbara where 1 in 4 youth are at risk for becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol. Through their efforts with the community, the Center has raised over $1 million.
